Living in Alaska makes it hard to forget that we have an awesome God. The beauty here never ceases to amaze us. This was the sunset out the living room window just tonight. The mountains are so majestic and the sunsets so serene. We thank the Lord for bringing us to a place that continually reminds us of him. Wish you all could be here to see it as well. The pictures are pretty accurate but it is even more amazing in person. Just thought everyone would like seeing a little of what we enjoy up here.

Praise the Lord!

We praise the Lord that we were able to find a house! It is a 4 bedroom and 2 1/2 bath home with a 2 car garage. It also has a nice size back deck as well as a covered front porch. In the back it has a small storage shed. It is nice to have extra storage as well as the 2 car garage. We will post pictures soon. We hope to move into the house by this weekend, Lord willing. It is of the Lord that we found this house. We were out driving around trying to find a duplex we saw an ad for when we came across the home. We feel the Lord led us to this property. We are currently renting but we do have the potential to possibly buy it in the future. It has been nice to be with family and are thoroughly thankful for their hospitality but also thankful to have our own home. Once we settle there Alaska will officially be home for us. We appreciate all your prayers for us as we endeavored to find our own place. Be sure to check back for the pics!

Gregory, the unsaved soulwinner!

It was quite amusing in the car ride today to hear Gregory explaining the plan of Salvation to his cousin Robert. Gregory said, "I don't want to die." His cousin Robert said, "I don't want to die either." I was once again able to discuss this important topic to them. Not only the 2 boys but Audrey and her cousin Alena as well. They seem too young at this point but God's word will not return void. Gregory is definitely thinking about this quite a bit. We thank the Lord for his softness and desire to know more. He is beginning to understand more and more each time. In fact, his cousin started to direct more questions to Gregory. It is amazing to see the working of the Holy Spirit in such young lives.

Eric is getting smart!

It is neat to see that your child is actually learning school. Our oldest Eric has shown this recently. One evening his Aunt Jessi was suggesting that she should make some cookies. Instead of saying cookies though she spelled it out. C-o-o-k-i-e-s. Eric repeated it and began to sound it out. After a few seconds of registering it he yelled out, "Cookies! You're gonna make cookies!" We all started to laugh. We were quite amazed that he figured it out from the spelling. So much for keeping secrets in front of the kids by spelling it out! We are proud quite proud of him!

Gregory's spiritual softness

We have to praise the Lord when we see our children softening to the conviction of the Holy Spirit. A while back Gregory was asking how you get to heaven. So I started to explain the plan of salvation. Our oldest child, Eric, piped in and was explaining it all very accurately.(He had already excepted the Lord as his personal Savior last spring) After taking it all in Gregory replied, "I don't want to go to Heaven." Eric seemed concerned and told him, "Fine you will have to go to Hell then". Gregory gasped at his response and said, "Mommy did you hear Eric?" I let him know that I had heard but also told him it was true, if he did not ask Jesus into his heart. He let me know he did not want to go to hell. Every night each child picks a prayer request (sometimes with daddy and mommy's help) and prays for it before going to bed. A few nights ago we started our bedtime routine for prayer. Gregory had picked a prayer request which I can't remember. All I know is he didn't pray for his request. Instead his prayer went like this, "Dear Jesus, Help me to ask you my Savior so I go to heaven and not go down where the fire is and help me understand." He is getting really close to understanding it all and seems to have a desire to understand. We rejoice at the small steps toward his salvation. We pray that each of our children will come to know the Lord as their personal Savior at an early age. We also want it to be something that they want not what daddy and mommy push them into. We let them ask the questions. We do bring it up when opportunity arises as well. The neat thing with Gregory is that he has been very inquisitive on his own and quite frequently at that. We continue to pray for his Salvation, as well as our daughter, Audrey. We hope and pray that each of you reading this have done the same and have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior.

Starting of our blog

We are setting up a blog page so that it will be easy to keep people updated with us since we are now living way up north, Alaska. We will post current pics and events in our family. You can check this often for more updates.
Our kids are enjoying the snow beyond measure. They want to go out every day.

Eric has started in a new school and absolutely enjoys his teacher. She is very experienced and has put Eric as ease instantly.

We are in the process of looking for a home of our own. It is a daunting task but are anxious to be settled here. Our belongings won't arrive til the 24th. We have already gotten our van up here, thank goodness.

We attribute all of our safe journey to the Lord. We know that many of you have been praying for us as we have been in transit. We certainly do appreciate all of your thoughts and prayers. When we were in Oregon we had the stomach flu hit our 3 kids. It was an exhausting time dealing with that. Before we headed to Alaska Robert and Angela both got horrible head colds. We praise the Lord that we are all here safe and are currently healthy.
The beauty here in Alaska is amazing. It reminds us of God being the creator and we are thankful that God created such beauty for us to enjoy.
Please check back often to see how God is working in our family. We love and miss all who are far from here and think of each of you often.
