Alaska State Fair

Tuesday night we were able to attend the Alaska State Fair. It is only about 20 minutes from our house. The kids had a blast riding the rides, seeing the animals, and enjoying the fair junk food. Dad and mom had as much fun as they did. We even rode a few rides with them. We love it when we get to spend time together just as a family. We were all very tired at the end of the evening but it was a good tired!

First Day of Ballet

Today was the first day of ballet for Audrey and her cousin Alena. I started out a little worried about how the day was going to go. Audrey had her 4 yr. check up yesterday and received 3 shots. This morning she was not too happy and complained of being really tired. What was mommy thinking taking her to the doctor the day before ballet??? Well, when her cousin Alena arrived she perked up rather quickly. In the end they both loved their ballet class and had a blast! They were so cute to watch. Audrey can't wait til next week now!

Bitter Sweet Day!

This morning was long awaited for until it finally arrived. I have been excited about the boys starting school then it hit me all of a sudden. The morning went very smooth. Mommy got up on time and had her shower beefore waking the kids. When I went in to wake the boys they were already wide awake and ready to go. We shared some coffee and had breakfast together. Of course we took some pics and headed out the door. When we got to school Gregory went in and found his cubby and took a pic with his teacher. Eric was glad to see faces from last year. Mommy held onto to her composure just barely. I didn't think I would feel so emotional. Boy, did it surprise me. I am going to enjoy the year with Audrey while I can. Next year will be even harder sending the baby to school too. In fact, when we pulled into the school Audrey said, "Mom, I am going to miss brothers!" That alone almost made me cry. Yikes, am I a mushy mess today!

Saturday Family Fun!

Saturday was such a fun outing day for us as a family. It was the last weekend before school starts. We started by sleeping in late. Then we went to a picnic for the van pool that Robert rides on to and from work into Anchorage. It was at our local Wasilla lake. The kids had a blast and wanted to be able to walk into the water to catch the baby fish. They were extremely small but the kids didn't care. They were having a blast. So after the picnic we went home and let them change shoes so they could get into the water. They had so much fun looking for the fish and catching them in their buckets(that Meemaw bought while she was here visiting). The agreement was they had to let them go back into the water though. They were baby rainbow trout, we think. Robert and I had so much fun watching them and helping them. Audrey really got into it and was frustrated because her brothers kept catching them and she couldn't. Finally daddy had to step in and teach her to walk carefully so not to scare the fish away first then swoop the bucket really fast. She finally did it!
After all this excitement at the lake we came home to grill some fresh salmon and while Robert was on the deck cooking at the grill, a mama moose came waltzing through the yard. She was enjoying the fireweed in our yard. At one point she stopped looked at Robert and then went right back to eating. The kids were thrilled to see her right in our yard. (even though they have seen several moose before)
Needless to say the day was full of fun and excitement yet rather relaxing. We feel it was a really nice way to "end our summer" before school. We are still enjoying as much of the nice weather as we can before winter comes though.

Am I The Luckiest Mom!!!

This morning I had been baking some cookies for our neighbor. She had let us borrow her wheel barrow for all our wood projects. We have been stacking wood for our winter heat. She allowed us to use her wheel barrow which cut our work almost in half. After I made the neighbor a plate of cookies I let the kids have one. Gregory then said, "You are the sweetest mom!" Of course I already knew that but it was good to hear my own child say so!!! LOL :) I just had to share this with you all. So all you moms reading this, you have your work cut out for you if you want to be the sweetest mom.(If your child thinks so that is all that matters!!)

God Must Be Really Busy!

This morning I was sitting at the table with the kids eating breakfast. Gregory said, "Mom, God must be really busy!" I asked him why? He said, "Because he has the sun and the rain. It keeps him pretty busy." Audrey then piped in and said, "He has the snow TOO!" I laughed because lately we have had sun then rain, sun then rain. Today it is cloudy but not raining. It was cute though.

The Fishing Excitement!

I thought everyone would enjoy seeing the fishing excitement. We really had a great time visiting with the family. Later I will post a slide show of our camping trip. Things have been extremely busy with family visiting. All the company is gone except for Meemaw and Papa Dean. They are here until the 14th. It sure has been nice having them here for so long. It will make it hard to see them go. The cousins sure had a blast together. They don't see each other that often so they were all very sad to see them leave. They went back to Oregon and then in September they head back to Mongolia. Eric asked if he could go to Mongolia and visit them. We thank the Lord for time he has given us with family.
