Summer Buzz

Now that we are in the summer and no school we still feel as busy as ever. This last weekend was rather relaxing for us. Saturday we took the kids to feed the ducks in town and they really enjoyed that. In fact, the sea gulls kept trying to swipe the bread from the duck. Gregory especially enjoyed feeding the sea gulls.
Sunday night after church our pastor and his family came over to our house and we played Dutch Blitz. It was quite fun and competitive. Since no one had to work the next day it was a late night.
Monday we ALL slept in til 10am. That is extremely unusual because our children are early risers. That was a nice abnormality for a change. Then at 3pm we went to our friends house from church for a BBQ. Yet another enjoyable time once again.
Tuesday Robert started his new job at Providence in Anchorage. The first 2 days were rather boring since it was orientation. Having worked for Providence before he knew most of what they were going over. He is rather excited to be back in the medical realm again though.
Tuesday also brought Gregory to his dentist appointment. This was no regular appointment though. He had gotten his teeth cleaned and had a bad tooth causing him much pain. So Tuesday we were headed to our 4th dentist. To make a long story short because Gregory cried when he went to get it fixed at the 2nd dentist we tried they pretty much kicked us out of the office. I was frustrated with how the dentist treated us, not necessarily that he couldn't do it. So, finally Tuesday we arrive in Anchorage for his appointment at a Pediatric Dentist. Mom was an absolute mess over it because of our past experiences. Gregory was doing great! He really liked all the people there and the dentist himself was phenomenal with him. Our appt. was at 10am for a consultation and x-ray. The dentist was worried about it being abscess. Thankfully he felt it wasn't and said we could come back that day at 1:30 to actually fix his tooth. So we had to occupy 2 hours until then. Of course he couldn't eat much since they were going to give him gas to work on him. He thought the office was a blast. It makes a huge difference how you are treated. He couldn't wait to get back to the office. On the other hand mom was a wreck inside. Of course, mom didn't want Gregory to sense it. One thirty came and it was time for his tooth repair. He did great all the way until they had to numb him. They had to numb right down into the tooth and he didn't care for that much. Once he was numb it was better. Although mom was still struggling. :) After that he didn't feel much he just didn't like what was being done to him. When all was said and done the doctor had to take out part of his nerve and then fill his tooth. All of this resulted in the way his teeth had developed. It couldn't have been helped. Gregory was a very brave boy and mom and dad were both proud of him. He even said he still likes that dentist office! Mom was very tired and worn out at the end of the day from the stress and worry for Gregory.
Last night was the last night for AWANA. We had the award ceremony. Since AWANA was started rather late at this church the kids did not finish their books. They only had 12 AWANA nights total but our kids only made it to 11. Eric did over half of his book though. Gregory came very close to finishing his book as well. There are normally 48 AWANA nights. So, Robert and I were proud of them for doing so much with so little time.
I guess that is enough rambling for now. Later!
