Saturday Family Fun!
Saturday was such a fun outing day for us as a family. It was the last weekend before school starts. We started by sleeping in late. Then we went to a picnic for the van pool that Robert rides on to and from work into Anchorage. It was at our local Wasilla lake. The kids had a blast and wanted to be able to walk into the water to catch the baby fish. They were extremely small but the kids didn't care. They were having a blast. So after the picnic we went home and let them change shoes so they could get into the water. They had so much fun looking for the fish and catching them in their buckets(that Meemaw bought while she was here visiting). The agreement was they had to let them go back into the water though. They were baby rainbow trout, we think. Robert and I had so much fun watching them and helping them. Audrey really got into it and was frustrated because her brothers kept catching them and she couldn't. Finally daddy had to step in and teach her to walk carefully so not to scare the fish away first then swoop the bucket really fast. She finally did it!
After all this excitement at the lake we came home to grill some fresh salmon and while Robert was on the deck cooking at the grill, a mama moose came waltzing through the yard. She was enjoying the fireweed in our yard. At one point she stopped looked at Robert and then went right back to eating. The kids were thrilled to see her right in our yard. (even though they have seen several moose before)
Needless to say the day was full of fun and excitement yet rather relaxing. We feel it was a really nice way to "end our summer" before school. We are still enjoying as much of the nice weather as we can before winter comes though.

At least it looks warm there right now. Kids don't really care about the weather. What a fun family time! Wish we could be there to enjoy it too....
