Yesterday we had to go to Anchorage for our van to be looked at in the car dealer. When we go to Anchorage we tend to see several military in uniform with being so close to the Elmendorf Air Force Base. After being at the car dealer for quite a while I took Gregory and Audrey to Wendy's for lunch. When we walked in, there was about 10 different Air Force men in uniform having lunch. Gregory's eyes got so big. He replied, "Mommy look at the Armies." That is when a whole slew of questions began. Our whole lunch time was spent talking about the military and what their job is. "Do they protect us? Where are their guns? Do they go to war? How do they hide? Do they get the bad guys? Where do they live? Do they have tanks? Do they sleep in tents? Do they fly helicopters?" ETC... This was our conversation over lunch. Poor Audrey didn't get a word in edgewise. Then I was surprised when Gregory said, "Mommy, we should thank them for protecting us." I assured him that was a good idea. Right after this comment 2 men in uniform said hello to him. I asked if he wanted to tell them. He sat there and pointed to 2 other uniformed men and said I will tell them. They just laughed and went on their way. He must have been intimidated by those 2 who said hello. So on our way out we approached the other 2 uniformed men. I let them know my son wanted to tell them something. They bent down and said, "What was that buddy?" He looked them in the eye and said, "Thank you for protecting me." It was wonderful to see a big grin come across both of the men's faces. "Your welcome!" was their reply.
We then got in the car and Gregory said, "Mommy, we should pray for the soldiers." Again I agreed it was what God would want and that we would pray for them.
He was so intrigued by it all. You could see the wheels turning in his head. Thank the Lord for our military men!

Gregory,
I am so proud of you wanting to thank our military and pray for them. Whenever I see military people I always try to tell them thank you for protecting our country.
That must be neat to see that many armies.
Congratulations to Eric for winning the bike. I really enjoy reading your blog site, It helps me to keep up with everyone.
Love to all of you, memaw
Hey,
That was a neat story about the army men.
It took us about 3 months or so to find a church. We are still going to wait to join for a little bit just to make sure. We made sure we tried everything this time before settling on a place too.
Stay warm and we will try and do the same!
Love,
Chris
